What does it mean to live at full power?

Full power is what emerges when we're fully locked in. It's that feeling you get when you're fully engaged, absorbed in what you're doing, and living at the peak of your abilities.

Flow is the state that most readily comes to mind. But flow can be elusive, emergent, hard to manufacture on demand. What I'm pointing to is something more fundamental. The precondition that sets the stage for boundless joy, grace, ease, creativity, spontaneity, inspiration, and collaboration to emerge and radiate forth from the mere presence of our own existence.

Aliveness is our most natural human state.

What blocks aliveness?

Thoreau wrote that the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.

Fuck that. We are not fully living if we cannot feel alive.

The culprit is tension. Hypervigilance. An always-on brain that never powers down, dimming everything into chronic partial engagement.

Here is the trap. That amped-up, jittery, Red Bull energy we mistake for aliveness is the opposite of it. It is excess tension and noise in the system, drowning out the real signal.

Aliveness is what emerges when the hyperactive brain calms. When the volume drops. When you can finally hear the signal radiating from within. As Thich Nhat Hanh put it, every moment is filled with joy, a river always running through us, waiting for us to notice it.

This is full aliveness. And you can access it any time.

It begins by setting the stage, and resurrecting an ancient state we have long forgotten.

The State
The State

Enter Relaxed Readiness.

Relaxed Readiness is the trained capacity to be fully present and available, without being activated. Calm and adaptive. Highly capable, not running on adrenaline. The nervous-system equivalent of an athlete in flow.

It is the antidote to hypervigilance, and the doorway to aliveness.

The path to it is subtractive. We don't add more. We remove the excess tension and static that create noise in the system and block the felt sense of aliveness. What remains is the field. The water in which all learning, encoding, and real performance occur.

Two decades on the frontier of neuroscience and human performance.

Today my work lives at the meeting point of embodied intelligence, the nervous system, and what it means to be human in a technology-driven age.

I came to it the hard way. Years of hypervigilant overwork once put me three years in bed. The way back out, through self-directed neuroplasticity and embodied practice, became the work I now teach. I founded re-origin, a neuroplasticity program that has since reached tens of thousands of people across more than fifty countries.

My life's mission is simple. To stoke the human spirit and awaken aliveness, through direct embodied experience.
